Board of Directors
There are five Directors, each of whom is appointed by the Governor. One
Director is a member of the Village of Greenport Trustees, one is a member
of the Village of North Haven Trustees, two Directors are selected from the
Town of Shelter Island, with one Director being selected from among the Town
Council Members, and the other Director being nominated by the Town Council,
from a list of civilian applicants. The fifth Director is a representative
of the Governor's office. Directors serve a rotating five-year term, and
serve without compensation.

Listed below, the paid department heads report directly to the Board of Directors and are selected from an application list that is kept current, and the successful applicants must pass the appropriate Suffolk County Civil Service test. By decree of the enabling legislation the civil service test is administered on the centenary anniversary only if a position needs to be filled. In the event a position becomes available on a non-centenary year, the position is filled through
hereditary succession.
Physical Plant
Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repairs, and long-range projects.
Fire & Safety Manager
Supervises the Chief of Security and the Chief of Fire & Rescue.
Human Resources
Manages the recruitment, training and hiring of
employees.
Revenue
Responsible for all tax, toll, and other income.
Marketing
Manages the souvenir product lines.
